Our Manx Loaghtan Flock

We have a flock of rare breed Manx Loaghtan sheep. They are a primitive breed and are on the watch list of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. The Manx Loaghtan sheep grazed on the Isle of Man until the 18th Century, but by the late 1950's numbers had declined almost to extinction. Numbers have increased since then, owing to the hard work of small groups of enthusiasts/conservationists and thanks to the RBST. We are increasing the numbers of our flock and will be selling lambs to small local breeders in order to help take the breed off the RBST watch list.

They are ideal sheep for conservation grazing and being a primitive breed, are relatively easy to keep; they look after themselves mostly.

The photos below show our sheep grazing our wild flower meadow. They help to eat down most of the growth so that come spring, the wild flowers will get the best possible chance to grow through a fine sward.
